We present innovative AOI and SPI inspection systems from Yamaha – high-performance solutions for automated optical inspection in electronics manufacturing. These advanced AOI inspection machines enable extremely precise three-dimensional inspection thanks to cutting-edge optical and image processing technologies.

A unique feature of Yamaha inspection systems is the use of one of the industry's first 12-megapixel cameras combined with a telecentric lens, ensuring exceptional image clarity and measurement accuracy. With an innovative control system, Yamaha AOI machines achieve up to twice the speed of standard inspection systems while maintaining superior detection performance.

What is Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI)?

AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) is a technology that uses advanced optical imaging systems to detect defects and irregularities in manufactured products. In electronics production, AOI systems are primarily used to inspect printed circuit boards for component placement accuracy, solder joint quality, polarity errors, missing components, and other assembly defects.

AOI equipment is equipped with high-resolution digital cameras and, in many cases, 3D laser scanning or structured light technology to capture detailed images of the product surface. The system analyzes collected data in real time to determine whether the product meets predefined quality standards. If a defect is detected, the system can flag or stop production to minimize scrap and prevent defective products from moving further down the line.

AOI is widely used in SMT and THT production lines across the electronics industry. Its primary goal is to ensure the highest possible product quality, improve yield rates, and reduce manufacturing costs through early defect detection.
