AOI
Automatic optical inspection equipment
AOI systems (Automated Optical Inspection) are advanced inspection devices that use optical technologies to precisely examine the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). They are designed to detect defects such as dimensional deviations, scratches, edge damage, air bubbles, contamination, missing components, polarity errors, soldering defects, and other structural irregularities.
AOI equipment utilizes high-performance lighting systems and industrial cameras to scan PCB surfaces and generate high-resolution images. These images are then automatically analyzed to identify any defects or inconsistencies. The entire process is fully automated, enabling fast, repeatable, and highly accurate inspection while improving product quality, increasing production efficiency, and reducing manufacturing costs.
Modern AOI systems incorporate advanced technologies such as computer vision algorithms and machine learning to inspect a wide range of PCB assemblies and electronic components. The inspection process typically includes several stages. First, high-resolution images of the board or component are captured. Next, the system analyzes the images to detect potential defects or deviations from predefined standards. Finally, a detailed inspection report is generated, listing all identified issues.
Depending on the system configuration, image acquisition may be performed using cameras, laser scanners, or other optical sensors. Inspection can be carried out in real time within an inline production process or in batch mode for offline analysis.
