SMD component storage systems
SMD component storage systems (Surface Mount Devices) are specialized solutions designed for the storage, organization, and management of surface mount electronic components. These systems are widely used in electronics manufacturing and repair environments where efficient handling of SMD reels and parts is essential.
SMD storage systems can generally be divided into three main categories: manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic solutions.
Manual systems typically consist of storage boxes, racks, or trays used to organize SMD components. They are simple and cost-effective but require manual sorting, tracking, and retrieval.
Semi-automatic systems utilize assisted mechanisms or partial automation to store and retrieve SMD components. These solutions reduce operator workload and improve efficiency while maintaining moderate investment costs.
Fully automatic systems represent the most advanced solution. They use integrated robotic handling and intelligent software to store and retrieve SMD components automatically. These systems significantly increase productivity, improve inventory accuracy, and can support multiple production lines simultaneously.
We offer the following SMD component storage solutions:
- Archimede system
- Transfer cart for moving SMD components between the Archimede cabinet and pick and place feeders
- LZERO-3 component storage systems
The Archimede system is a highly efficient automated storage and retrieval solution for SMD components. It enables the storage of thousands of component reels in a compact footprint and provides rapid access through automated picking and delivery technology.
Within the Archimede system, SMD components are stored in dedicated drawers or containers and registered in the system database. Each storage unit is labeled with a barcode or QR code, scanned during both storage and retrieval operations to ensure full traceability and inventory control.
When a component is required, the operator enters the part number or name into the system. The system then automatically retrieves the appropriate drawer or container and delivers it to a designated access point. This automated process reduces retrieval time, eliminates sorting errors, and significantly improves warehouse efficiency.
