How do benchtop ionizers work?

Benchtop ionizers are designed to neutralize electrostatic charges by generating a large volume of positive and negative ions. Every charge attracts an ion of the opposite polarity, which makes it possible to neutralize hazardous electrostatic charges. Only by maintaining the correct balance between ions can ESD-sensitive products be manufactured, transported and stored safely.

Benchtop ionizers are an extremely convenient alternative to gun-type ionizers, as they are installed in a fixed position and do not need to be moved from place to place. Their advantages include the lack of need for compressed air supply and two interchangeable grilles that allow the user to choose between a wide-area and a focused ionization zone:

  • The straight grille enables wide-area airflow
  • The angled grille enables focused airflow
